Simple, personalized treatment programs and paths—Detox Placement, IOP, and Virtual IOP—guided by ASAM criteria for treatment levels and your goals. [1]
Finding the right treatment can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already dealing with stress, cravings, or emotional pain. At New Leaf Recovery Center, we believe recovery should feel clear, supportive, and realistic. Treatment should fit into your life—not force you to step away from everything at once.
Our programs are built around levels of care for substance abuse, guided by ASAM treatment levels. These guidelines help determine how much support you need to stay safe, stable, and moving forward. The goal is not to rush recovery, but to provide the right care at the right time.
We meet you where you are and adjust your care as your needs change.
Not everyone needs the same type or intensity of treatment. Some people need daily structure and close support. Others do well with fewer hours while living at home. Levels of care help match treatment to your current situation.
Levels of care are not labels or judgments. They are tools that help keep people safe and supported. Recovery works best when care matches your physical health, mental health, and daily responsibilities.
At New Leaf Recovery Center, your level of care is reviewed regularly. As you gain stability and confidence, your treatment plan evolves with you.
ASAM treatment levels come from the American Society of Addiction Medicine. These guidelines help treatment providers decide the safest and most effective care based on several areas of need.
We consider:
This approach allows us to create a plan that supports long-term recovery, not just short-term change.
Many people do not need 24-hour residential treatment, but weekly therapy alone is often not enough. Life stress, cravings, mental health symptoms, and lack of structure can make recovery harder without added support.
That is where a partial hospitalization program in New Jersey can help.
Partial care offers strong daily structure while allowing you to return home each evening. You can stay connected to family, work, and responsibilities while receiving focused treatment during the day.
This balance helps you practice recovery skills in real life while still having professional support.
A Partial Hospitalization Program provides full-day treatment without overnight stays. Clients usually attend treatment five to six days per week for several hours each day.
A partial hospitalization program in New Jersey is ideal for people who need more support than outpatient care but do not require residential treatment.
PHP offers:
This level of care helps stabilize routines, reduce cravings, and build confidence during early recovery.
PHP works well for people who:
PHP helps bridge the gap between detox or crisis care and more flexible outpatient treatment.
An intensive outpatient program for addiction provides structured care while allowing you to live at home and continue daily responsibilities. Treatment is usually scheduled several days per week for a few hours at a time.
IOP is one of the most common levels of care for substance abuse because it balances support with flexibility.
Our intensive outpatient program for addiction includes:
IOP focuses on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, communication skills, and rebuilding daily life without substances.
IOP may be a good fit if you:
IOP helps people strengthen recovery skills while practicing them in real-world settings.
For some people, detox is the safest first step. Withdrawal from certain substances can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, dangerous without medical care.
Detox focuses on physical stabilization. It prepares the body and mind for ongoing treatment but is not treatment by itself.
At New Leaf Recovery Center, we coordinate detox placement with trusted medical partners who provide:
While you are in detox, our team stays involved. We help with insurance verification, planning next steps, and preparing your transition into PHP, IOP, or Virtual IOP.
Detox is the beginning of recovery, not the end.
Choosing the right level of care should not feel confusing or stressful. When you contact us, our admissions team completes a respectful and private assessment.
We ask about:
Substance use history
Mental health symptoms
Medical needs
Daily responsibilities
Recovery goals
Using ASAM treatment levels, we recommend care that best supports your safety and progress. If a higher level of care is needed, we coordinate referrals and remain involved so you are never left without guidance.
With your permission, we can also include a trusted loved one to support your recovery plan.
No matter your level of care, you can expect a supportive and structured environment. Our team understands addiction, mental health, and the challenges of real life.
Treatment may include:
Group therapy for shared learning and support
Individual therapy for personal goals
Skill-building activities
Education about addiction and recovery
Medication-assisted treatment may be included when appropriate as part of a complete care plan. All providers work together to keep your care consistent and clear.
As you make progress, your treatment plan is adjusted to support growing independence.
CBT helps identify thoughts and behaviors that support substance use. You learn how to challenge negative thinking and replace it with healthier patterns.
DBT focuses on emotional regulation, stress tolerance, and communication. These skills are especially helpful during cravings and high-stress moments.
Many people use substances to cope with trauma or long-term stress. Trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR when appropriate, help address these experiences safely.
Addiction affects the whole family. Family therapy improves communication, builds understanding, and supports healthy boundaries.
Our levels of care for substance abuse support adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or mood challenges.
Care is designed for people with real responsibilities. Flexible schedules, virtual options, and family involvement help make recovery realistic and sustainable.
If medical or safety concerns are present, we help you begin with detox and then transition smoothly into ongoing care.
Recovery is not a straight line. As your needs change, your level of care should change too.
We support movement through:
Detox placement
Partial hospitalization
Intensive outpatient care
Aftercare and ongoing support
Clear communication and regular check-ins help you understand what comes next and how to stay supported.
They’re a national framework from the American Society of Addiction Medicine that helps us match you to the right level of addiction care. [5] We assess your safety, symptoms, supports, and goals, and then place you in the best setting, whether that’s IOP, Virtual IOP, or a Detox Placement, initially for withdrawal management. It keeps decisions clear and consistent while your plan stays personal and flexible across the continuum of care.
The program is the same—same schedule (9–12 AM or 6–9 PM), same licensed clinicians, same group and curriculum. Virtual IOP lets you join live by secure telehealth that streams into the in-person room, so you’re part of the exact community even from home. It’s a good fit if you’re balancing work or family, have transportation limits, or want more privacy without losing real outpatient services or support.
If it is determined that detox is the best fit for your needs, we coordinate a direct referral to a trusted partner for detoxification/inpatient services with round-the-clock care. We stay connected during that step, verify benefits, and plan your smooth return to IOP or Virtual IOP when you’re stable. You’ll know what to expect, and our team will help with simple case management and follow-up so nothing falls through the cracks.
Your core services include therapist-led group therapy, weekly individual therapy, and psychiatric APN support as needed. We use evidence-based modalities like CBT, DBT, EMDR (when you have the skills and stability), and Family Therapy, plus relapse prevention training and life-skills practice. [6] MAT is available only for clients enrolled in IOP, so medication and therapy move together in one coordinated treatment program. Groups are small (capped at 10) for safety, depth, and real practice.
You do not have to guess your way through recovery. The right level of care can provide stability, guidance, and confidence when you need it most.
At New Leaf Recovery Center, we help you find the level of care that fits your needs today and adjust it as you grow stronger. Whether you are starting with detox placement, a partial hospitalization program in New Jersey, or an intensive outpatient program for addiction, you will be supported every step of the way.
